Rudy Mukta
All you need to get yourself started as a musician, is an indefinite lockdown, Garageband, and an ear for music. At least that’s what Rudy Mukta needed. The 19 year old took her first step into the music industry by borrowing her best friend’s iPad. With a flair to figure-it-out on her own, she now has two successful EPs, namely Broken My Slumber and Entropy. Rudy is taking her time, as she paves her way into the hip-hop and R&B world of music. S Raman Iyer
An antiques enthusiast, therapist, and saxophonist, Raman Iyer has a lot of titles to his name. An alumnus of St. Joseph’s, he found his passion back in school. His journey with his saxophone began at the age of 13. Since then, music has become a part of his body, and a healer. He not only performs at various gigs with his band, but is also a practising therapist. Derek & the Cats
Derek and the Cats are an instrumental band, based in Bangalore. The group is a collaboration of nine musicians, or Cats, if you may – Derek Mathais (pianist and keyboardist), Adesh Vinod (guitarist), Vishal Varier (bassist), Anand Murali (keyboardist), Gautam David (saxophonist), and Jason Sharat (drummer). The band’s love for their groovy music pushes them to improvise at live shows, always keeping their audience on their feet.
Shubham Roy
Bringing together his experience in multilingual folk music and his training in Hindustani Classical Music, Shubham Roy is the new face of fusion music in Bangalore. With his roots in Shillong, this Bengaluru-based artist is known to branch out to all corners of the country, dabbling between different genres of music. You can easily catch Shubham’s intimate gigs at accessible venues like Freedom Park, M Chinnaswamy Stadium and State Central Library back in Shillong. However, you’ll also find him opening for big artists like Usha Uthup and Raghu Dixit, along with his playback track in the Malayalam film, Kumbasaram. And, you can find him here!
